"Wal-Mart Surplus Buy of the Week!"

II often get emails from people or places with their latest surplus product offerings. Many of which are fraudulent, however, I DO get REAL product offerings from REAL and legitimate places. I know because I know where the major stores liquidate their products through and I know that these major products can be purchased for PENNIES ON THE WHOLESALE DOLLAR!

Here is an email I received earlier this week:

Walmart.com Returns
Increase your profits with this limited time offer. High-quality returns from WalMart.com. NOT store returns. Mixed pallets include variety of items – domestics, sporting goods, toys, furniture, and small appliances. No electronics, apparel, baby items. Pallets offered at 20% off already low liquidation rates. Special pricing available during week of February 18, 2008. To purchase, visit xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, and click on the "Featured Product" listing.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx provides a steady stream of deeply discounted merchandise to buyers who want to spend less time sourcing and more time selling and making money.

This is a REAL DEAL! I am forced to X out the name BUT this is a major reclamation center that Wal Mart offers their products through! This would be a great deal to pick up if you knew where Wal-Mart liquidated their products through. Fortunately, I do AND DO reveal it in my book:

"To Niche or Not To Niche?"

William Shakespeare is credited with one writing one of the most famous plays in the English language. It comes from a play called Hamlet where a very famous line originates from:

"To Be or Not to Be"

If you know anything about Hamlet, he speaks this while in confusion about a mission he had been given by the ghost of his dead father to avenge his fathers death.

Okay, I know you may be saying what in the world does this have to do with anything?

Glad you asked.

If you’ve been a reader of mine for awhile, you will notice that you have heard me talk about finding your niche market and selling in it.

I have created a little confusion by not making myself clear on the mission or purpose of why I was saying that. The key question becomes:

"To Niche or Not To Niche?"

For one, surplus and liquidated items can be sold by category but more difficult to sell in a "niche" market because once you run out of a surplus product it may be difficult to get more stock of it. However, this does NOT mean you cannot sell in a niche using surplus product.

I always propose a having a website to sell on the backend with your products especially if selling on eBay. Your website probably will not do well if you try to take a flea market approach and sell everything to everyone. However you may do well selling on eBay like this.

On eBay with surplus items you could be selling anyting and do well with it. However, you can still define your niche to your main products with your own website by upselling or using back end selling for your products. You can also create informational guides that fit the whole of your business or specific products no matter what you’re selling on eBay.

The bottom line is although it may be difficult "To Niche" with surplus products on eBay, you cannot afford to "Not To Niche" by failing to utilize an alternative source of selling to compliment your eBay selling plan.

I hope I have made this a little more clearer!

Here’s to your success,

2 VIDEOS: "Worldwide Ebay Stike! 3% Decline in Listings!" Old News or Are eBay Sellers Chasing Their Tails?"

I had shared a video and some news about the proposed worldwide eBay strike (this is from Feb, 2008). Well, that strike is this week. As it stands, the jury is still out, but statistics say there is only about a 3% drop in listings halfway through the strike.

Read the official news story here.

Now, check out this video from 2006 about a U.K. news broadcast of a serious eBay seller complaining about the EXACT SAME issue and having a strike against eBay… back in 2006!

That was about a year and a half ago and probably hundreds of attempted strikes before and after. The reality is that MORE and MORE people flock to eBay, and despite the negative kickback and proposed strikes, eBay is still here and going strong.

Note: This does not mean I endorse the strike one way or another.

Watch the video from 2006!

Now, check out this crazy dude who wants to overthrow eBay in the second video ; ) (I do not endorse this guy nor do I know him. I just thought his proposal was ridiculous).

As long as you have a plan to sell outside of eBay, let everyone else rally the troops to strike against or overthrow eBay while you go make money!
