"How to Buy Wholesale, Surplus, Liquidation & Closeout Merchandise At Your Local Retail Store!"
|
I found myself venturing into a few minor home repairs this week which required a trip to my local home improvement store in search for a much needed appliance and a minor replacement part for my bathroom sink.
Now granted, I would have searched eBay first, but I don’t have time to wait on shipment or travel very far as we are moving extremely quick in preparation for a long distance move.
As I was waiting on service at my local Lowe’s store, I started looking at the appliances, and several other home improvement products.
I got to thinking, you know, I’m always searching to find out where different stores liquidate their products from, (i.e. what do they do with the returns, where do they send their repairs, what do they do with their overstocks or their seasonal items? and so forth). Is there anything I could pick up at discounted prices to resell on eBay?
Before I go further…
Check out this incredible new resource for auction sellers! Mike Enos of Platinum Powerseller has put together one of the most vital and awesome resources for auction sellers in one place!
Mike has "brought down the house" and included everything from audio to video, to pictures, to feebdack, along with a wholesale search engine along with including several other awesome resources that EVERY eBay seller needs to gain a competitive edge! Mike has done it AND included it all in one place to make it ridiculously easy for you to gain a competitive advantage from your auction listings!
Better yet, because he has included this all in one place, the learning curve has been greatly reduced because you don’t have spend time learning individual programs. You are freed up to make sales and grow your business instead of spending time running your business!
The only problem I have with this resource is I wish it was around 3 years ago! You will certainly want to check out AuctionTNT!
Often, we get so wrapped up looking at the trees inside the forest that we forget the whole picture and lose sight of something right under our nose!
So, as I got to thinking, the gentleman came back to the counter and as I placed my order for my new microhood, I opened up a small conversation with him. At the end of the conversation, he was answering questions such as:
-
Where does Lowe’s send their closeout items to?
-
What does Lowe’s do with their customer returns or repaired items?
-
How long does Lowe’s keep their items on their shelves until they liquidate?
-
Where do they liquidate their items to?
-
Can I purchase any of their closeout, liquidated or returned items?
-
How much does Lowe’s liquidate their products for?
These are important questions that YOU can ask at ANY of your local retail stores. This guy didn’t know me from Adam but it was amazing how he started telling me what he knew!
Now, depending on the store, the common worker at the store may not know this information, but if you can find out who to talk to at the store, you will find yourself with some valuable information.
Now, what kind of information do you think I know about Lowe’s now? The guy didn’t know all of the answers to all of my questions, BUT I can now pursue it if I wanted to purchase bulk or liquidated products from my local Lowe’s department store!
I do know now that Lowe’s will restock their returned or repaired merchandise if possible BEFORE they automatically liquidate it. They will try to liquidate ALL working products themselves BEFORE liquidation comes calling. I do know the time frame now for their seasonal items!
Now, imagine a local retail store where you live. What if you approached them and asked similar questions and offered to either buy their bulk products or offered to liquidate their overstock, returned, closeout or repaired items for them for a percentage?
They may or may not do it but you will be amazed at the information you can find out if you talk to the right people. Depending on if it’s a major retail store chain, you may have to call a corporate office, or talk to someone in upper management. If it’s a small retail store, you may just be able to speak with the store manager.
All you have to do is ask. Often we want someone to tell us something, but you will often get a lot further just by simply asking! If I hadn’t of thought of asking the customer service worker at Lowe’s taking my order, I would never have known how to pursue this information.
Walk into your favorite store that you think you may be interested in selling their products, strike up a casual conversation and then simply ask. Or ask who you would need to speak to about finding out this information.
You may be surprised at what you find! I certainly was!
Until next time
Here’s to your success!
